Canada is BIG. So big, in fact, that at 9,984,670 km2, it’s the second-largest country in the world. We live in a land rich in natural beauty, from great northern landscapes and huge swaths of boreal forest, to temperate rainforests and prairie grasslands. Our national parks protect and preserve those areas of natural beauty under federal legislation. They also tend to be BIG! So big, in fact, that the majority of them are larger than entire countries (Denmark, Switzerland, Armenia, El Salvador — we’re looking at you!). Here are 30 national parks that are larger than 30 individual nations.
