Côté, Jean-Pierre
Jean-Pierre Côté, MP, minister, senator and lieutenant-governor of Québec (b at Montréal 9 Jan 1926). He studied at the School of Dental Technology, and was first elected to the House of Commons for Longueuil riding in 1963. He was named to the Privy Council and served as postmaster general (1965), minister of national revenue (1968) and again postmaster general (1970). He was named to the Senate in 1972 but left it in 1978 to become lieutenant-governor of Québec, a position he held until 1984. Admired and consulted because of his good judgement, discretion and public spirit, he sits on several administrative bodies. In the last few years, he has taken up painting.
