Kenneth Henry Mann, freshwater and marine biologist (born at Dovercourt, England 15 August 1923; naturalized Canadian; died at Halifax, NS 24 January 2010). Kenneth Mann was an aquatic biologist whose wide experience ranged from the taxonomy and biology of freshwater leeches to the production of inshore marine ecosystems. He is best known for his work in the analysis of the production of aquatic systems, and was influential in the International Biological Programme, in which production of many ecosystems was compared.

Mann's production studies included fish in the River Thames in England and the lobster/sea urchin/kelp complex off Eastern Canada. He wrote several books and more than 170 research papers in his field, and has lectured and worked widely overseas. Mann was chairman of the biology department at Dalhousie University (1972-78) and professor (1972-80). He was director of the Marine Ecology Laboratory, BEDFORD INSTITUTE OF OCEANOGRAPHY, Dartmouth, NS (1980-87). He became senior research scientist there in 1987 and emeritus senior research scientist in 1993 after his retirement.
