We worked on small training planes because several of our students were from Australia and New Zealand, just servicing planes and preparing them for in some cases, major overhauls. Mainly it was in Centralia [Ontario] but later on, when that station was being broken up, I was sent down to Eastern Ontario to a station near Hawkesbury on the Ottawa River to put planes into storage. And it had to be, the mortars prepared and so forth. This was after the war was winding down. These were small planes, just to get pilots used to being off the ground sort of thing. Then after, they went onto other more sophisticated planes and in many cases, I guess, they took additional training before they went onto the front. Frankly, I hated mechanics and I still am the worst at doing anything mechanical or anything like that.
