I never regretted doing it. I was with a good bunch of people, and I enjoyed that. It was quite interesting, you know, transmitting messages too from there.

Going into the air force [Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Division], I had a good time. Eventually, I went out to [RCAF Station] Sea Island in BC and so I saw a lot of nice country. I never regretted doing it. I was with a good bunch of people, and I enjoyed that. It was quite interesting, you know, transmitting messages too from there.

Usually you had certain hours that you went and you’d switch weeks or something, but you were just there answering and sending out messages continually. And that referred to, well, anything that was involved in the air force.

I think that every young person should be obliged to at least spend a month under supervision, something like that because it sure does make a difference. I know we had a couple of girls, one girl in particular in our group and she was always doing things to the other girls; and nobody ever told anybody. Finally, they found out and boy, did they ring her up and down. It changed that girl completely. So I think that being in the air force or any of the forces is a really good thing.
