Concordia University Electroacoustics/Électroacoustiques Université Concordia (Concordia Electroacoustic Composers' Group/Groupe électroacoustique de Concordia 1982-9). Founded at Concordia University in 1982 by the composers Kevin Austin, Daniel Feist, Dave Lindsay, James Tallon, and John Wells to promote electroacoustic music. As a leading spirit of the electroacoustic movement in Quebec, it first encouraged improvisation on electronic instruments and performance, before devoting itself to a greater extent to concert production of electroacoustic work. The group presented an important number of works and electroacoustic premieres during its annual concerts series and outdoor summer concerts, several of which were broadcast on the 'Brave New Waves' program of the CBC English network. In 1983 it awarded its first composition prize. From 1984 to 1986 it published tenor issues of Newsletter CECG/Bulletins GEC distributed across Canada. This first national publication devoted to electroacoustics contributed to the creation of the Canadian Electroacoustic Community in 1986. The group also set up the Concordia University tape library which in 1991 held more than 1100 Canadian and foreign electroacoustic works. These have been catalogued in Q/Résonance and Q/Résonance Addendum (Montreal 1988, 1989), publications edited by Jean-François Denis.
