Peters, Arthur
Arthur Peters, lawyer, premier of PEI (b at Charlottetown 29 Aug 1854; d there 29 Jan 1908), brother of Frederick Peters. Called to the Prince Edward Island Bar in 1878, Peters was first elected to the Assembly in 1890 as a Liberal. Appointed attorney general in 1900, he became premier 29 December 1901 and died holding office. He is remembered as a stout defender of fair terms for Prince Edward Island within Confederation.
