 Canora, Sask, incorporated as a town in 1910, population 2219 (2011c), 2013 (2006c). The Town of Canora is located 50 km north of Yorkton. The community was a creation of the CANADIAN NORTHERN RAILWAY which laid steel through the site in 1904. The town's name is a combination of the first 2 letters of each word in "Canadian Northern Railway." The town established itself as the trading centre for the surrounding district and has maintained this role. The district is typical parkland and is suited to mixed farming as well as providing good recreational areas to inhabitants and visitors.
