History
At Beaver Creek on 20 October 1942, the 18th US Army Engineers grading the Alaska Highway north from Whitehorse met the 97th Engineers working south from Fairbanks. A small settlement took shape in the 1950s and it received a post office in 1958. It is the home of the White River First Nation.
Located just east of the Alaska-Yukon border, the settlement has a Canada Customs office, a landing strip, and service industries for travelers on the Alaska Highway. It is Canada’s most westerly community.
