Lloyd Samuel Breadner, air chief marshal (b at Carleton Place, Ont 14 July 1894; d at Boston, Mass 14 Mar 1952). Commissioned in the Royal Naval Air Service 28 December 1915, he won a Distinguished Service Cross as a fighter pilot in 1917.

Lloyd Samuel Breadner, air chief marshal (b at Carleton Place, Ont 14 July 1894; d at Boston, Mass 14 Mar 1952). Commissioned in the Royal Naval Air Service 28 December 1915, he won a Distinguished Service Cross as a fighter pilot in 1917. He became a squadron leader in the Canadian Air Force in 1920 and held various staff appointments between attending the RAF Staff College and the Imperial Defence College, London.
In 1940 as an air vice-marshal, he became chief of the air staff, then in 1943 air officer commander in chief, RCAF Overseas. After retiring in 1945 Breadner was promoted air chief marshal, the first (and only) Canadian to hold that rank.
