Maurice Henry Lecorney Pryce, research physicist, professor (born 24 January 1913 in Croydon, England; died 24 July 2003). Following a BA at Cambridge and a PhD (1937) at Princeton, he lectured in mathematics at Cambridge for 2 years and served a year as reader in theoretical physics in Liverpool.

Maurice Henry Lecorney Pryce, research physicist, professor (born 24 January 1913 in Croydon, England; died 24 July 2003). Following a BA at Cambridge and a PhD (1937) at Princeton, he lectured in mathematics at Cambridge for 2 years and served a year as reader in theoretical physics in Liverpool. Three years of wartime research in RADAR at the Admiralty Signal Establishment preceded his first sojourn in Canada in 1944-45 as a member of the secret joint Canadian-UK-US Atomic Energy Project in Montréal.

Pryce came to Canada for permanent residence in 1968 after having occupied a number of distinguished positions at Oxford (1946-54), Bristol U (1954-64) and U of Southern California 1964-68. He was appointed professor of physics at UBC in 1968. On retirement in 1978 he was made first an honorary professor and then professor emeritus. He remained active during his retirement, doing much consulting work for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. He is the author of over 75 publications on a wide variety of topics in theoretical physics and astronomy. In 1951 Pryce was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in London.
