Mercantile Bank of Canada
Mercantile Bank of Canada had head offices in Montréal. The Mercantile Bank operated a general banking business through 13 branches and one representative office. By the early 1980s it had over $4 billion in assets and revenues of about $500 million and was one of the 20 largest financial institutions in Canada. In 1986 the bank became wholly controlled by the National Bank of Canada.
