Plume Latraverse, born Michel Latraverse, author, composer, performer and writer (b at Montréal 11 May 1946). A rock group member in the 60s, he later appeared in boites à chansons and bars, toting around his counterculture songs, that included Bopépine and Le Rock N Roll du grand flanc mou, which described aspects of daily life in poetry that was scathing yet marked with respect and tenderness for his subjects. He quickly won over young audiences, and toured Québec, several Canadian cities, and France where he received the prix international de la jeune chanson in 1980. Plume Latraverse, who was practically unknown on radio and television, sometimes recorded more than an album a year. After a 1983 Québec tour with the group OFFENBACH, he decided to end his career, however, three years later he recorded new songs and appeared as a chansonnier in small clubs. Moreover, in 1994, he received the Médaille Jacques-Blanchet for the quality of his work, which remains socially forceful - never subdued, and which he continues to present at selected performances each year.
