Early Career

Shofield attended the UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN and the Ray-Vogue School in Chicago, where she studied Fashion Merchandising. Solomon Schofield has dedicated her career to business administration, education, broadcasting, corporate governance, crime prevention and community involvement.

Public Life

In the 1980s, Schofield chaired the Board of Crime Watch, a North and South American crime prevention organization. Schofield has also worked with the Government of Guayaquil, Ecuador, to establish their Crime Watch group and act as an interpreter. She was also hosted a Crime Prevention talk show in Fort Lauderdale. She was twice voted Florida's Crime Prevention Woman of the Year.

Schofield has been actively involved in other organizations in Regina. She was a member and held leadership roles with St. John Ambulance, the Assiniboia Club, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the Royal United Services Institute, and the Hospitals of Regina Foundation. She also served as Chief Financial Officer of Sprite North America for ten years. Other past board memberships and affiliations include: the Saskatchewan Roughriders (Honourary Director), 2003 Grey Cup Committee (Chair-Security Volunteers), Regina Chamber of Commerce Business to Business Expo, Opera Saskatchewan and the Salvation Army. She was appointed as the Saskatchewan Chair of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council in January 2006.

Shofield as Lieutenant Governor

Vaughn Solomon Schofield was appointed to the Office of Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan on 6 March 2012, succeeding Gordon BARNHART. She remains the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Western Group of Companies, a business real estate organization. Her son George has served as the mayor of Regina Beach, Saskatchewan.

Schofield has also received several awards including the Commemorative Medal for the Centennial of Saskatchewan (2005), the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal (2009), Saskatchewan Order of Merit (2012), as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
