Barry Edmonston

Barry Edmonston is research professor at the University of Victoria. He received his PhD in demography from the University of Michigan. He has previously been a faculty member at Stanford and Cornell universities and senior researcher at the National Academy of Sciences. He served as President of the Canadian Population Society from 2010 to 2012. He co-edited with James Smith the widely-cited two-volume study of the demographic, economic, and fiscal effects of immigration on the United States, entitled The New Americans. With Eric Fong, Barry also co-edited The Changing Canadian Population, which includes chapters presenting analysis of major Canadian demographic issues.
