Michael MacDonald has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. He reported for daily newspapers in Ontario and Saskatchewan before moving to The Canadian Press national news agency in 1990. He has worked as an editor and reporter in Ottawa, business reporter in Toronto and correspondent in Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2003, he was appointed Atlantic news editor in Halifax, a position he held for five years. Since 2008, he has worked as a general assignment reporter in Halifax, where he has covered many national stories. He is originally from Toronto and has a degree in political science from Carleton University in Ottawa.
