Cornelia Hahn Oberlander
Cornelia Hahn Oberlander, CC, OBC, landscape architect (born 20 June 1921 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany; died 22 May 2021 in Vancouver, BC). Cornelia Oberlander moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1953, where she founded her own architectural firm. During her career, Oberlander established herself as a landscape architect and became recognized for her social and environmental approach to architectural design. (See also Landscape Architecture.) Oberlander was the recipient of numerous awards and honours throughout her career and life.

Cornelis Opthof. Baritone, b Rotterdam 10 Feb 1930, d Toronto 16 Dec 2008. Emigrating to Canada in 1949, Cornelis Opthof studied voice in Belleville, Ont, with Catharina Hendrikse, and 1957-9 on scholarship at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). In 1960 he was a CBC Talent Festival winner.

Corrine Hunt, Kwakwaka'wakw/Tlingit artist (born in 1959 in Alert Bay, BC). Hunt is a respected artist who has created hand-crafted jewelry, accessories, art installations and furniture. In 2010, she co-designed the Vancouver Winter Olympic medals. Hunt is a strong and vocal supporter of the arts. In addition to her own work, she mentors other artists and strives to promote the traditional art of Northwest Coast Indigenous peoples. Her unique designs and art installations showcase her personal history as well as her cultural heritage.

Cougar Annie
Ada Annie Rae-Arthur (née Jordan), (a.k.a. Cougar Annie), pioneer, businesswoman (born 19 June 1888 in Sacramento, California; died 28 April 1985 in Port Alberni, BC). Ada Rae-Arthur was a pioneer who cleared approximately 5 acres (2 hectares) of land along the northern shore of Clayoquot Sound, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She ran a successful nursery, post office and general store from her homestead. There, she birthed 11 children, outlived four husbands and became known for allegedly shooting and killing about 70 cougars in her lifetime. Today, Cougar Annie’s Garden is owned and operated by the Boat Basin Foundation to preserve her legacy and promote natural history.

Coulson Norman Mitchell, VC, engineer, soldier (born 11 December 1889 in Winnipeg, MB; died 17 November 1978 in Montréal, QC). During the First World War, Captain Mitchell was the only member of the Canadian engineers to be awarded the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest award for bravery among troops of the British Empire.
