    Mario Lorito (Primary Resource)

    Mario Lorito was born in Canada, but went back to Italy in 1936 for additional schooling. However, he and his mother were unable to leave Italy went war broke out, so he remained in the town of Francavilla al Mare. He avoided being conscripted by the Italian military, and following the town’s liberation, he worked with both American and Canadian troops.     Michael Krewiak (Primary Source)

    Mr. Michael Krewiak is a World War Two veteran who enlisted during the summer of 1940 and went overseas with The Lake Superior Regiment (Motor). Having fought in Normandy, he continued to fight into Northwest Europe, where he was badly wounded by a mortar shell in October 1944.

    Monte Stout (Primary Source)

    Monte Stout joined the RCAF in March 1942 but was then transferred to the Royal Air Force. He initially served as a navigator with RAF Coastal Command, and flew missions along the eastern seaboard. He was then transferred to RAF Transport Command, 45 Group, also known as Ferry Command.     Murray Hyman Kirsh served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. After his grandparents were killed by Nazis in Europe, Kirsh felt it was his duty to enlist to serve in the war.
