Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, located in Victoria, BC, is a multi-disciplinary fine and decorative arts museum with a permanent collection of more than 14 000 paintings, prints, sculptures, drawings and objects from the decorative arts. The gallery's collections encompass the arts of Canada, Europe and Asia. Of particular note is the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria's collection of Japanese art which is ranked as the finest in Canada.

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria was founded in 1946 and has been in its current location since 1950. At the heart of the gallery complex is the historic Spencer mansion which was built in 1889. In its modern exhibition halls, the gallery presents more than 30 temporary exhibitions a year featuring aspects of the permanent collection and contemporary art from the region. As well, the gallery presents a wide variety of public programming including lectures, film series, art classes and concerts.
