James Robertson

James Robertson, Presbyterian minister (b at Dull, Scot 24 Apr 1839; d at Toronto 4 Jan 1902). Robertson emigrated to Woodstock, Canada West, in 1855 and after teaching school entered the University of Toronto, serving in its militia company at the Battle of RIDGEWAY (1866).

James Robertson, Presbyterian minister (b at Dull, Scot 24 Apr 1839; d at Toronto 4 Jan 1902). Robertson emigrated to Woodstock, Canada West, in 1855 and after teaching school entered the University of Toronto, serving in its militia company at the Battle of RIDGEWAY (1866). Following theological studies at Princeton Seminary, he became a minister in rural Ontario in 1869. In 1874 he moved to Winnipeg and in 1881 was appointed superintendent of Presbyterian mission work in the North-West. Under Robertson, "the Presbyterian bishop," 4 congregations grew to 141, in addition to 226 missions serving 1130 points.
