Ken Watson

Ken Watson, curler (born at Minnedosa, Man 12 Aug 1904; died at Winnipeg 26 July 1986). When he skipped his Strathcona Cup (Manitoba) Rink to victory in the 1949 Macdonald Brier, Watson became the first to win the coveted Tankard 3 times (with a career Brier record of 25 and 2).

When he skipped his Strathcona Cup (Manitoba) Rink to victory in the 1949 Macdonald Brier, Watson became the first to win the coveted Tankard 3 times (with a career Brier record of 25 and 2). Beginning in 1923 at the Manitoba Bonspiel, he won 32 major bonspiels, including an unprecedented 6 grand aggregates in succession (1942-47). An innovative strategist, he helped develop the sliding delivery and was a supreme exponent of the draw game. Watson also served as an administrator of CURLING at several levels and was a successful author - Ken Watson on Curling sold nearly 150 000 copies.
