Cyrille-Roch (also known as Roch fils) Lyonnais (Bossu or Bossue, dit Lyonnais). String-instrument maker, music dealer, teacher, b Quebec City 13 Jul 1876, d there 10 Nov 1925. He was initiated into the secrets of his craft by his father, Roch, operated a workshop 1896-1907 in Notre-Dame-de-Lévis, and then moved to Quebec City. Extreme instability led him to change his address every year. Cyrille-Roch claimed on his marriage contract in 1918 that he was a soldier. He was, nevertheless, the last representative of a line of Quebec violin makers who were highly respected by their contemporaries.
