Erin Karpluk, actor (b at Jasper, Alta 17 Oct 1978). Erin Karpluk grew up in Jasper and studied theatre at the University of Victoria, graduating in 2000 with a bachelor of fine arts. She auditioned for the National Theatre School in Montréal, but was turned down. Further rejections from the Shaw and Stratford festivals caused her to return home. Undeterred, she moved to Vancouver and found steady work in television.

In 2005, she landed a leading role in the cable series Godiva's (2005-06) as the manager of a hip bistro in downtown Vancouver, and in 2006 she was nominated for a GEMINI AWARD for best performance by an actress in a continuing leading dramatic role. She appeared in the television movie Luna: Spirit of the Whale (2007) alongside veterans Adam BEACH, Graham GREENE and Tantoo CARDINAL, and was in Los Angeles shooting an episode of The L Word when she got the call for the lead role in the CBC series Being Erica.

In the role of Erica Strange, Erin Karpluk plays a 30-something underachiever who, with the help of her therapist (played by Michael RILEY), can travel back in time to fix mistakes in her life. The series proved a ratings hit and one of the most highly acclaimed programs on the CBC, displaying Karpluk's girl-next-door looks and light comedic charm to great effect. In 2009 she was awarded the Gemini for best performance by an actress in a continuing leading dramatic role.

In 2010 Karpluk signed on for a supporting role in the American cable series Life Unexpected while working on the third season of Being Erica.
