John Grierson Award
Presented at the Canadian Film Awards from 1972 to 1978 and at the Genie Awards in 1980, the John Grierson Award was given for outstanding contributions to Canadian cinema. It was named in honour of John Grierson, the British documentary filmmaker and theoretician who was the founding commissioner of the National Film Board (NFB).
