Leah Pinsent

 Leah Pinsent, actor, writer, producer (b at Toronto). Leah Pinsent is the daughter of 2 of Canada's most distinguished actors, Charmion KING and Gordon PINSENT. At the age of 9 she made her acting debut in a small part in The Bill Cosby Show and at 15 she auditioned for Daniel PETRIE's The Bay Boy (1984). She secured the part of Saxon Coldwell, the object of Kiefer SUTHERLAND's romantic desire, and was nominated for a GENIE AWARD for best supporting actress.

She appeared in Eric Till's television drama Glory Enough for All (1988) and continued her studies at the University of Toronto, the Williamstown Theatre in Williamstown, Mass., and the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. In 1990 she played the daughter of Charlton Heston's character in the Disney production of Don SHEBIB's The Little Kidnappers, shot in Nova Scotia; she was nominated for a GEMINI AWARD for best supporting actress.

She appeared with her father in Eric Till's Win, Again! (and was nominated for another Gemini) and is perhaps best known in Canada for the 5 seasons (1998-2003) she played Veronica Miller, the sarcastic production accountant in Rick MERCER's Made in Canada; she shared 3 Gemini Awards with her castmates for best ensemble performance in a comedy program. She has been seen on TV in, among many others, More Tears (1998), Escape from The Newsroom (2002), This is Wonderland (2004), ReGenesis (2006-07) and Republic of Doyle (2010) and in the films Burnt Toast (2005) and Eating Buccaneers (2009).

Pinsent co-created and appeared with her husband Peter KELEGHAN in Love Letters (2010), a one-hour CBC special based on the 1989 play of the same name by A.R. Gurney.

On stage she has appeared in productions at California's Playhouse West, and back in Canada she was in TARRAGON THEATRE's Emphysema, a Love Story (1998) and was part of the ensemble cast of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss and What I Wore (2010) at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre.
