Well, I’d go and pick up the mail and I’d have to sort it out by companies, I picked it up as a regiment.
Stafford James Petrie. Well, I was born the first of July, 1917 and grew up in Chatham, from Ottawa. I did about everything, I even hoboed from here to the West Coast [Canada], during Depression years. Lived through the Depression years too and that was hard. That was really hard. And then I worked around Chatham for a while, joined the army, 15th of June, 1941. And I went overseas in1941, overseas in1941 to England, stayed four years in England and went into Europe, sixth of June, 1941 [1944]. Went through Hochwald Forest, Reichswald Forest and right up through... Well, I’d go and pick up the mail and I’d have to sort it out by companies, I picked it up as a regiment. And then I had it sorted out for the different companies and I’d deliver the mail to each company, there was four or five companies in the army, A, B, C, D and supply company and headquarters.
