It’s exhilarating. It’s, I don’t know, it’s what I always wanted to be so - a pilot - so that’s what, I fulfilled my wish I guess.
I always wanted to fly when I was a kid. I took ITS [Initial Training School] in Edmonton and Elementary Flying [Training School] in High River. Service [Training Flying School] in McLeod [Alberta]. And then overseas. The war was getting fairly well over when I got there. I mean, they were still using real bullets and that sort of stuff but there weren’t as many Jerries. I got about five [sorties] in I guess, actual over in Germany. The war was almost over when I got there. But I always wanted to fly since I was a little baby. And I’d [have] rather been in fighters when, that’s what I was recommended for and I got Lancasters [bomber aircraft]. It’s exhilarating. It’s, I don’t know, it’s what I always wanted to be so - a pilot - so that’s what, I fulfilled my wish I guess.
