Quill & Quire is a magazine of the Canadian book trade. It is read chiefly by publishers, booksellers, librarians, writers and educators. Founded by the Seccombe family in 1935, it was a monthly magazine serving stationers and booksellers. By 1971, the year in which the magazine was purchased by Michael de Pencier, president of Key Publishers, it had shifted its emphasis to the book trade alone. In 2002, the publication became part of St Joseph Communications, which is based in Concord, Ont.

Since 1972 the magazine has grown in size and scope. Its regular features include a book review section, spring and fall publishers' announcements, author profiles, industry statistics, and in-depth features on BOOK PUBLISHING, government policy, BOOKSELLING and librarianship. It has a monthly circulation of 5000 per issue and is said to reach a total audience of some 25 000. A monthly section, Books for Young People, addresses the developments in children's literature. Twice annually, Quill & Quire issues the Canadian Publishers Directory.
