Sterling Awards

The annual Sterling Awards were established in 1987 to recognize and celebrate professional theatre achievements in Edmonton. The awards are named in honour of Elizabeth Sterling HAYNES, who established and guided the development of quality theatre work in the city. Within distinct mainstage, fringe and production divisions, the awards acknowledge outstanding performances in categories such as acting, directing, design, music, and choreography.

In the 1999/2000 season, the Sterling Awards committee created a special award category with Margaret Mooney, who was a private student of Haynes. In Mooney's name, the award recognizes outstanding achievement in administration.

A list of past nominees and winners is available under historical archives at the awards' official website.
