Agnes Pawlowska-Mainville

Dr. Agnes Pawlowska-Mainville is an assistant professor with the Department of First Nations Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia. Her work largely focuses on examining customary governance and local knowledge systems through the intangible cultural heritage lens. Her community-based research is reflective of the relationships she has established with communities in British Columbia, Manitoba and internationally. Her decade-long work with the Asatiwisipe Anishinaabeg and the Makeso Sakahican Inninuwak examines cultural and natural resource stewardship as a form of heritage-sourced sustainable livelihoods. Dr. Pawlowska-Mainville is also the executive director of the Northern BC Public Interest Research Group.
