David Fried-DesBaillets

David Fried DesBaillets is a postdoctoral fellow, human rights scholar, and educator at the Human Rights Research and Education Centre and the Canadian Housing Evidence Collaborative. 

His main area of research is constitutional and human rights law in Canada. He is a published author whose doctoral dissertation about the evolution and current developments of the right to adequate housing in Canada, was completed in 2019. 

The scope of his research includes jurisprudence, policies, and legislation, internationally, domestically, and transnationally, relevant to the advancement of the right to adequate housing in Canada. 

His other research projects examine challenges in access to housing, from legal, human rights, and public policy perspectives, with special emphasis on the legal situation in Quebec and the indigenous right to housing.

He has also worked for the Office Federal Housing Advocate's office doing policy analysis, communications and research related to the Canada's Housing Plan/National Housing Council/National Housing Strategy Act.
