Jennifer S.H. Brown
Jennifer S.H. Brown, FRSC, professor emeritus, taught history at the University of Winnipeg for 28 years and held a Canada Research Chair in Aboriginal history from 2004 to 2011. She served as director of the Centre for Rupert’s Land Studies, which focuses on Indigenous peoples and the fur trade of the Hudson Bay watershed, from 1996 to 2010. Brown has published several books and many articles on these topics, Indigenous-missionary relations, Métis history, and also on anthropologist A. Irving Hallowell and the Berens River Ojibwe. Her recent books include: Mission Life in Cree-Ojibwe Country: Memories of a Mother and Son (editor), An Ethnohistorian in Rupert’s Land: Unfinished Conversations, and Ojibwe Stories from the Upper Berens River: A. Irving Hallowell and Adam Bigmouth in Conversation (editor).
