Marc Vallières

Marc Vallières graduated from Université Laval with a PhD in history and a degree in business administration. He was a professor for 3 years at the Université de Sherbrooke and for 32 years in Université Laval’s history department until his retirement in 2007. A specialist in economic history and urban history, he is known for his 1989 work Des mines et des hommes. Histoire de l’industrie minérale québécoise des origines au début des années 1980. Mr. Vallières was the editor and principal author of Histoire de Québec et de sa région, published in 2008. He later published short histories of Québec City, Côte-de-Beaupré-Île d'Orléans and Portneuf. Last November, at the 2012 Québec Mines Conference, he launched Des mines et des hommes. Histoire de l'industrie minérale québécoise. Des origines à aujourd'hui, an update of his original work.
