Mélissa Blais

Mélissa Blais is a professor, professional researcher and PhD student in sociology at the University of Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Her interests lie in the feminist movement and, more particularly, in the conflicting dynamics provoked by its antifeminist countermovement. Her current work investigates the effects of antifeminism on organizations and feminists working to combat violence against women. She is a member of the Réseau Québecois en études féministes (RéQEF), the Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche sur l’antiféminisme (GIRAF) and the Institut de recherches et d’études féministes (IREF/UQAM). The author of “J’haïs les féministes”: le 6 décembre 1989 et ses suites (2009), she also co-edited the collective work Le movement masculiniste au Québec: l’antiféminisme démasqué (2008) and Retour sur un attentat antiféministe: École Polytechnique 6 décembre 1989 (2010), published by les éditions du remue-ménage.
