Oscar Baker III

Oscar Baker III is a Black and Mi'kmaw reporter from Elsipogtog First Nation. He was the 2015 winner of the David Adams-Richard prize for non-fiction writing for his piece, “The Violent Ones.” Baker was also nominated for a National Magazine Award for best in personal journalism in 2019 for his piece,“A History of Violence.” He was also the inauguralJHR Indigenous editorial fellow at The Walrus magazine. Now, Baker is a homemaker and freelancer from his home in Indian Island. More of his work can be found on his website oscarbakeriii.com.
