Stuart A. Harris is an emeritus professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Calgary. He has studied the nature and distribution of permafrost in western Canada, Tibet, Tien Shan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia since 1974. He has written over 170 publications including a book on the use of permafrost lands.
