    Lou Jacobi

    Louis Harold Jacobovitch, actor, comedian (born 28 December 1913 in Toronto, ON; died 23 October 2009 in New York, New York). Lou Jacobi was a Jewish Canadian character actor whose career spanned 70 years, from 1924 to 1994. He began acting while still a child, appearing in theatrical productions in Toronto before moving on to London’s West End and Broadway. He also appeared in more than 70 films and TV series in both comedic and dramatic roles. An avuncular actor with excellent comic timing, he once described himself as having “the look of everybody's favourite Uncle Max.” He was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 1999.

    Marcel Sabourin

    Marcel Sabourin, OC, actor, writer, screenwriter, lyricist, producer, director, teacher (born 25 March 1935 in Montreal, QC). An important figure in Quebec cinema and television, Marcel Sabourin has performed in more Quebec films than any other actor. He first came to prominence as Professor Mandibule in the Radio-Canada children’s TV programs Les Croquignoles (1963–67) and La Ribouldingue (1967–71). He is perhaps best known for his role as Abel Gagné in Jean-Pierre Lefebvre’s acclaimed Abel trilogy. Sabourin received the Jutra-Hommage lifetime achievement award at the Jutra Awards (now Prix Iris) in 1999. He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2019.

    Michel Dumont, OQ, actor, artistic director, translator and narrator (born 29 January 1941 in Kénogami [now Saguenay], QC; died 13 August 2020 in Saint-Lambert, QC). As artistic director of the Théâtre Jean-Duceppe for more than 30 years, Michel Dumont was regarded as a leading figure in Quebec theatre. He acted in more than 70 plays, some 15 TV series and a number of films. He won the Prix Gémeaux for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Drama Series three times (1998, 2003, 2013) and was made an Officer of the Ordre national du Québec in 2013.

    Pierre Cossette

    Pierre Maurice Joseph Cossette, talent agent, producer, record label executive (born 15 December 1923 in Valleyfield, QC; died 11 September 2009 in Ormstown, QC). Pierre Cossette was an influential talent agent, manager, music mogul and producer for television and Broadway. He is best known for bringing the Grammy Awards to TV. He served as executive producer of the telecast from 1971 until his retirement in 2005. He also launched the Latin Grammy Awards broadcast and produced the Broadway hit The Will Rogers Follies. It won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Cossette has a star on both Canada’s Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    Pierre Perrault, OQ, film director, poet, writer (born 29 June 1927 in Montréal, QC; died 23 June 1999 in Montréal). Pierre Perrault was one of Quebec’s most significant and celebrated artists. His collective work in radio, film, television and print explores the genesis and nature of French Canadian culture and identity. A pioneer of direct cinema, his elegiac 1963 documentary Pour la suite du monde, co-directed with Michel Brault, is a landmark in Canadian cinema. His writing received three Governor General’s Literary Awards: for poetry, theatre and non-fiction. An Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, Perrault received the Prix Ludger-Duvernay, Prix Albert-Tessier, Prix Victor-Barbeau, the Médaille des Arts et des Lettres from the Government of France, and the Médaille d’argent du Mouvement national des Québécois et Québécoises.
