    Pablum

    Pablum is a multi-grain processed cereal developed as a nutritious, precooked digestible food for infants. The cereal was first developed at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in 1930 by pediatric doctors Theodore Drake and Frederick Tisdall under the supervision of physician-in-chief Alan Brown. Pablum became commercially available in 1934 through an agreement with the Mead Johnson & Company and was used as a brand name through the early 21st century.

    The Pacific Ocean is the world’s largest ocean. It covers more than 30 per cent of the Earth’s surface — an area roughly the same as the Atlantic and Indian oceans combined. Canada’s relationship with the Pacific Ocean is synonymous with the West Coast of British Columbia. The province’s entire ocean shoreline, including the coasts of Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii, form Canada’s Pacific coastal region.     Painted Turtle

    The painted turtle (Chrysemys picta) is the most widespread native freshwater turtle species in North America. In Canada, it is found in all Canadian provinces except Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. It is abundant throughout much of its Canadian range and can be found in various aquatic habitats, including lakes, slow-flowing rivers and wetlands. The painted turtle is broken into three subspecies across Canada: the western painted turtle (Chrysemys picta bellii; BC, AB, SK, MB and ON), the midland painted turtle (Chrysemys picta marginata; ON and QC) and the eastern painted turtle (Chrysemys picta picta; NB and NS).

    Pamajewon Case

    The Pamajewon case (1996) (also known as R. v. Pamajewon) was the first case in which First Nations in Canada argued an inherent right to self-government before the Supreme Court. Spearheaded by two Anishinaabe First Nations, Eagle Lake and Shawanaga, the claimants argued that the Indigenous right to self-government included a right to control gambling practices on reserves. The Supreme Court ruled that these First Nations did not have rights to high-stakes gaming under self-government.
