It issued over 200 pieces of music, beginning with Canadian songs for the South African War and continuing with dance, ragtime and march music, and songs, often reflecting local colour or patriotic spirit. Many are designated Star edition; perhaps half have a copyright notice. The composers, all writing in a popular idiom, include Fenton S. Fansher, Arthur Wellesley Hughes, Joseph F. Lamb, J. Cecil Rolls, and one Harry Herbert, possibly a pseudonym for Harry H. Sparks.
