Les Disques Audiogram Inc. Recording company founded in Montreal in 1982 by Michel Bélanger, president and director general, who was joined 1986 by Alain Simard (president of FIJM, Spectra Scène and Spectel Vidéo) and Rosaire Archambault (President of Distribution Sélect and Archambault Musique). Following the successful LPs Nouvelles d'Europe by Paul Piché and Journée d'Amérique by Richard Séguin, Audiogram benefitted from the revival of the Quebec chanson in the mid-1980's. For the first time, a record company from Quebec brought together one of the most important record distributors in Quebec (Distribution Sélect) and one of the main show and video producers (Spectra Scène and Spectel Vidéo). In a short space of time, some of the greatest names among Quebec's songwriters and performers were added to those of Piché and Séguin: Michel Rivard, Pierre Flynn, Louise Forestier, Rock et belles oreilles, Michel Pagliaro, Jean Leloup and Diane Dufresne, along with several French artists such as Yves Duteil and Paul Personne. Audiogram won the Félix Award as record company of the year in 1988, 1989 and 1990. In 1990, it launched the Sumo label, devoted to the upcoming generation. The following year, Audiogram and Spectel Vidéo bought the André Perry sound and video recording studio in Morin Heights, north of Montreal. By 1990, Audiogram had become one of the most important record producers in Quebec.
