Les Éditions Québec-Musique

Les Éditions Québec-Musique. Publishing company founded in October 1979 by Otto Joachim, François Morel, Serge Garant, André Prévost, Gilles Poirier, and Louise Laplante to publish the music of Quebec composers according to the highest standards. This non-profit society, numbering some 40 members, has given itself the mandate to promote the study of its works, and to insure the protection of its members' professional, economic, and social interests. The enterprise has encouraged the publication, recording and distribution of the music of its members, and has functioned as editor and consultant in the field of music publishing. In 1984 it concluded an agreement of exclusive distribution with the Éditions Doberman-Yppan, which, shortly thereafter, acquired the complete catalogue of works. In 1991 these publications comprised Walter Boudreau's Les Sept Jours, Gabriel Charpentier's Trois poèmes de saint Jean de la Croix, Garant's Offrande II, Jacques Hétu's Les Clartés de la nuit, Joachim's four Intermezzi, Bruce Mather's Musique pour Rouen, Morel's Me Duele España and Prismes-Anamorphoses, Jean Papineau-Couture's Pièce Concertante No. 4, String Quartet No. 1, and String Quartet No. 2, Micheline Coulombe Saint-Marcoux' Moments, Donald Steven's Images, Gilles Tremblay's Soltstices, Jean Vallerand's Sonata for violin and piano, and Claude Vivier's Lettura di Dante.
