Marcelle (Sister Saint-Armand-Marie) Corneille. Administrator, educator, b Montreal 27 Jan 1923; B MUS (Montreal) 1952, L MUS (Montreal) 1960. She entered the order of the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre-Dame in 1943. She became interested in the music-education methods of Martenot, Corneloup, Dalcroze, Orff, and Kodály and later studied these intensively in the USA and Europe. She taught 1949-76 at the École normale de musique in Montreal and became the school's director in 1957. She also served 1969-78 as administrator of the music section of UQAM and, beginning in 1976, of UQAM's preparatory school of music. She was appointed professor emeritus by UQAM in 1989. She was a consultant to numerous committees and organizations concerned with music education and secretary 1965-715 of the provincial executive committee and vice-president 1971-3 of FAMEQ. She has taught music education at the Thomas More Institute and at Sir George Williams U (Concordia University), Montreal. She has contributed to several periodicals, including L'École 1965-9, and has given lectures at the international Kodály symposia in 1973, 1975, and 1977, at the fourth annual convention of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy in 1977, and at the Congress of ISME in London, Ont, in 1978. She is a contributor to EMC.
