Marie-Aimée Varro (b Warrot). Pianist, b Brunoy, near Paris, 18 Feb 1915, naturalized Canadian 1960, d Neuchâtel, Switzerland, 14 Sep 1971. A 1930 graduate of the Paris Cons, she studied with Alfred Cortot and Robert Casadesus and later with Emil von Sauer in Vienna.

Marie-Aimée Varro (b Warrot). Pianist, b Brunoy, near Paris, 18 Feb 1915, naturalized Canadian 1960, d Neuchâtel, Switzerland, 14 Sep 1971. A 1930 graduate of the Paris Cons, she studied with Alfred Cortot and Robert Casadesus and later with Emil von Sauer in Vienna. Her reputation established in Europe, she moved in 1955 to Canada, settling first in Vancouver and later in Halifax. She continued to perform in recital and with major orchestras in Canada, the USA, and Europe, specializing in the romantic repertoire. She premiered Jean Coulthard'sConcerto in 1967, and among her recordings of 19th-century music for Canada Baroque Records (BC-2849, BC-2873) are two Coulthard études (BC-2837). She recorded for Orion (ORS-6912, ORS-7034, ORS-73112, ORS-75196) and made three private recordings (1956, 1969, 1971).
