Paul Létourneau. Cellist, administrator, b Quebec City 21 Oct 1916 or 1918, d 15 Feb 2001. He studied cello in Quebec with Pierre Marchand and Henri Talbot and in Montreal with Jean Belland, continuing 1938-40 at the Juilliard School with Willem Willeke and 1942-4 at the TCM (RCMT) with Leo Smith and Zara Nelsova. In the ensuing years he became one of Quebec's most prominent instrumentalists. He began teaching at the CMQ in 1945, played for some 10 years in the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, and gave recitals on CBC radio. He also specialized in the technology of instruments, especially the piano.
