Lucien Gagnier

Lucien Gagnier. Flutist, b Montreal 26 Dec 1900, d there 26 Oct 1956. He began studying the flute at 8 with Pascal Deremouchamps and continued with Francis Boucher while learning theory from his father, Joseph. At 15 he made his debut with the orchestra of His Majesty's Theatre.

Lucien Gagnier. Flutist, b Montreal 26 Dec 1900, d there 26 Oct 1956. He began studying the flute at 8 with Pascal Deremouchamps and continued with Francis Boucher while learning theory from his father, Joseph. At 15 he made his debut with the orchestra of His Majesty's Theatre. He performed in different theatres in Montreal, was flute in several orchestras, and played obbligatos for the singers Jean Dickenson, Lily Pons, and Erna Sack. He was second flute 1934-56 in the CSM Orchestra. He appeared in numerous CBC radio and TV concerts and was a member 1942-9 of the Gagnier Woodwind Quintet.
