Whidden, Lynn

(Rose) Lynn Whidden. Ethnomusicologist, teacher, b Carnduff, Sask, 14 Jan 1946; BA (Manitoba) 1967, B MUS (Manitoba) 1969, M MUS (Minnesota) 1977, PH D (Montreal) 1987. She did graduate work in music, anthropology, and folklore. As a result of extensive research among the Inuit of the Northwest Territories, the James Bay Cree in Quebec, and northern plains Indians, she has published articles on a variety of topics relating to Native music. In 1990 she completed a prairie French/Métis/Native song collection for the SMEA. Whidden began teaching in the Native Studies Dept of Brandon University in 1981. She is a contributor to EMC.
