Postmedia Network took control of CANWEST GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION in July 2010 in a $1.1 billion transaction. Newly installed CEO Paul Godfrey, formerly of the National Post, stated that Postmedia Network's mandate would be to provide "digital first" news and advertising products for readers and marketers.
