Karl S. Hele

Karl Hele is a member of Garden River First Nation and a full professor in Canadian Studies at Mount Allison University. He has served as joint editor of the Algonquian Conference Proceedings, and edited This is Indian Land, Lines Drawn Upon the Water and Empires of Nature. Hele has also co-edited, with Marie-Pierre Bousquet, La Blessure, an award winning collection of essays on the residential school experience in Quebec. He contributes occasional columns to the Sault Star and Anishinabek News on regional history. Hele has also published and presented papers on the history of the Anishinaabeg and Métis communities in the Sault Ste. Marie region.
