John Boyko

John Boyko has written eight books on Canadian history and politics, including the national bestseller Blood and Daring: How Canada Fought the American Civil War and Forged a Nation, and Cold Fire: Kennedy’s Northern Front, which was short listed for the Dafoe Prize. His most recent book is The Devil’s Trick: How Canada Fought the Vietnam War. He has written editorials for newspapers across the country and has appeared often on radio and television. A retired educator and administrator, John has degrees from Trent, Queen’s and McMaster Universities and has served on and chaired many boards. He is currently the Board Chair of the Lakefield Literary Festival in Lakefield, Ontario, and serves as Selwyn Township’s Lakefield Ward Councillor.
