Hugh Murray (Primary Source)
Mr. Hugh Murray enlisted in July 1943 in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and served aboard the cruiser HMCS Uganda, the only Canadian warship that saw action in the Pacific. This interviews focuses on two main episodes, one involving combat against the Imperial Japanese Air Force and also a vote aboard HMCS Uganda regarding the potential involvement of its sailors in the Pacific theater.Please be advised that Memory Project primary sources may deal with personal testimony that reflect the speaker’s recollections and interpretations of events.
